It’s no secret the MINI brand has cars that are often described as fun and unique. Therefore, to have the automaker’s new eco-friendly offering, the MINI Cooper D, take home an award for the “Fun Green Car” by “What Car?” magazine is certainly fitting.

The MINI Cooper D is one of the new green MINIs. It’s praised for its fuel efficiency and clean emissions thanks to its diesel engine. However, this model isn’t just known for its environmentally-friendly benefits. It’s one of the more powerful MINI offerings.

For those driving used MINIs, Winter Park motorists included, you’ll want to take note. The MINI Cooper D is capable of reaching 60 mph in 9.9 seconds. It also has a top speed of 121 mph. On paper, this might not sound excessive, but the car’s considerable torque makes it definitely feel faster.

This proves that performance doesn’t have to be sacrificed for greener technology, which the MINI Cooper D certainly has. Its running costs are very low. It emits just 99 g/km of CO2 and gets 74.3 mpg. So, not only does it benefit the environment, but it also lessens your pain at the pump.

Unfortunately, it’s not yet available at the dealership where you get your MINI repairs. Winter Park MINI fans are saddened that this model hasn’t come stateside yet. However, if rumors can be trusted, the MINI Cooper D might be hitting the shores of the U.S. next year.

Stay tuned for more info about this diesel model as it becomes available!
