To give you a better idea of what happens under the hood, here’s a basic engine tune-up checklist that our Orlando area MINI service specialists will perform.
Engine Tune-Up Checklist
- Spark plug inspection. We will visually inspect your spark plugs, look for any wear and tear, and double-check to see what color the insulator firing noises are. (They should be light grey or tan.) We will also test the performance of your spark plugs by making sure the spark is igniting properly and noting what color the spark is.
- Fuel filter and injector check. We will also inspect your engine’s fuel filter to make sure it isn’t dirty or clogged. Then, we’ll look closely at your engine’s fuel injectors to ensure deposits, such as dirt, aren’t restricting the amount of fuel that can be delivered to the engine. We’ll also make sure that fuel injector buildup isn’t affecting how your engine’s spark plugs perform and fire.
- PCV valve and other components. To make sure your engine isn’t leaking any hazardous fluids, our techs will check the PCV valve to make sure it isn’t leaking or clogged with debris. Finally, we will inspect all of your vehicle’s condensers, points, and other components.
