Do you have your eyes set on a pre-owned MINI Cooper car in Orlando, FL? Pre-owned vehicles are capable of performance comparable to their new counterparts. It’s up to you, however, to stay up to date with scheduled maintenance in accordance with the vehicle’s user manual.
Here are some ways you can keep your MINI car healthy and in peak performance.
Check the Oil
Fresh oil becomes increasingly important as your car racks up miles. Check your oil at least once per month. Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it. When you pull it back out, it should be at or above the indicator level.
If it’s below or the oil appears really black and sludge-like, then you may need an oil change. Most MINI models, from the MINI Clubman to the MINI Convertible, require an oil change every 4,000 to 6,000 miles.
Check the Tires
Worn tires not only cause premature wear on your tires, but it also stresses other undercarriage components like the shocks, ball bearings, and bushings. As a general rule, tire pressure should never be more than five psi above or below the recommended psi.
Check the Brakes
Brakes wear with age, so it’s natural that a pre-owned car will have some existing break wear. To check your brakes, get a flashlight and examine the brake pad beneath the tire rim. The pad should be at least four millimeters thick. If it’s not, then you need to replace it. Brake repair may also be in order if you notice an increase in stopping distance.
Our service department at Orlando MINI can perform all of the above services for your MINI car. We can also perform a rigorous multi-point inspection.
