Your tires are the only thing between your car and the ground. When you drive, traction, handling, steering, braking, and stability all play a role in the wear of your tires. A worn-out tire can spell trouble for you and your MINI mobile, including poor handling and maybe even a blowout, putting you, your passengers, and other drivers on the road in danger. Stay safe and know these three signs that you need new tires, from the experts at Orlando MINI.
- Penny Test
Your tires need the proper tread depth in order to best grip the roadways. In order to ensure your tread is the proper depth, utilize the time-tested penny test. Insert a penny, Lincoln’s face down, into your tread. If you can’t see the top of Abe’s face, meaning if his head is “buried” between your tread blocks, then your treads are still good to go. If you can see his face, then you should take your car into our MINI parts center for new tires.
- Cracks on Sidewalls
Your tread depth isn’t the only thing you need to worry about. Damage can also happen to your tire’s sidewalls. To identify this, look for cuts or tracks on the sidewall that are visible to the naked eye. This means that your tire may be developing a leak.
- Blisters and Bulges
If your tire’s outer service begins to get weak, a bulge or blister may appear. These weak spots can cause your tire to suddenly blow out. So keep an eye out for bubbles or blisters on your tires.
If you notice any of these signs, take your MINI car into our Orlando MINI service center today.
